Piotr Biesiekirski seventh in Barcelona

28/07/2023

The only Pole in the lineup of the Motorcycle European Championship Moto2 completed Sunday’s races at the Formula 1 circuit in Barcelona in ninth and seventh positions, impressively pushing through to the top.

The 21-year-old qualified for the fifth round of the season in seventh place, with just under a second gap to the pole position and a pace that allowed him to fight for the podium.

Unfortunately, after not entirely successful starts in both races, the Fau55 Euvic Racing team rider had to make his way through the pack twice, crossing the finish line in ninth and seventh places, respectively.

The sixth out of seven rounds of the Moto2 European Championship will take place in October at the Motorland Aragon circuit.

Earlier, in mid-September, the fifth round of the Spanish Superstock 1000 Championship will be held, in which the 21-year-old will compete for the title after five victories in the first eight races.

“We leave Barcelona with mixed feelings,” says Piotr Biesiekirski. “On the one hand, I was very fast throughout the weekend, including both races. We clearly had the pace to fight for the podium. Unfortunately, I lost a few positions at the start in both races, and that was enough to turn the battle for the top three spots into a fight to stay in the top ten. The level of the European Championship is incredibly high this year, so every second counts. Although I dropped out of the top ten at the start of both races, I managed to get back there twice, finishing in ninth and seventh places, respectively. In the second race, I missed the fourth position by just four seconds, which is a big positive. I know what I need to improve before the next races, but first, I have a short visit to Poland, where I will conduct motorcycle training at the Łódź Circuit, among other things. I’m excited to meet not only with my family but also with Polish fans and motorcyclists.”
