Piotr Biesiekirski to miss Valencia

19/05/2023

Piotr Biesiekirski will miss this weekend’s round two of the European Moto2 Championship in Valencia as he continues to recover from a pre-season knee injury.

The 21-year-old Pole injured his right knee during a pre-season test session in Estoril, Portugal and was declared unfit for the European Moto2 season opener.

Having received the green light from the doctors, last Saturday Biesiekirski then took part in the first race of the third round of the Spanish Superstock 1000 Championship in Valencia, where he finished third, scoring his fourth consecutive podium result.

The rider of the Fau55 Euvic Racing Team then decided to opt against racing on Sunday due to swelling in the knee and visited Doctor Angel Villamor in Madrid. The was advised to rest and continue with recovery before his upcoming return to action.

“It’s a great pity to be missing what’s pretty much my home Moto2 race but I must follow the advice of the doctors – says Piotr Biesiekirski. – While I was allowed to race last week, the swelling returned so I decided to consult Doctor Angel Villamor. He’s one of the best specialists in Spain, having worked not only with several MotoGP riders but also with the King of Spain himself. His recommendation is very clear. The knee still needs some more recovery and treatment, but I hope to be back soon once I’m given the all-clear”.
