Consistent Biesiekirski 25th in the Algarve Grand Prix

07/11/2021

Piotr Biesiekirski finished the Sunday’s Algarve Grand Prix in 25th position, gaining more World Championship experience during this third Moto2 Grand Prix start of 2021. Next week will see the Pertamina Mandalika SAG Euvic’s rider taking part in the season ending Valencian Grand Prix.

Having started from 31st on the grid, the young Pole had shown a consistent pace during the Sunday’s race, moving up to 25th position after passing Lorenzo Baldassarri at the halfway point. Eventually the 20-year-old finished the Algarve Grand Prix one minute and eight seconds behind the winner, Australian Remy Gardner.

“It was good to finish another race in the World Championship and gain more experience onboard a bike I will race in the European Moto2 Championship next year – says Piotr Biesiekirski. – My pace during the race was very consistent, so I’m happy about that but I was hoping to be a little bit faster today and finish with a smaller gap to the winner. However, the most important thing was to finish a consistent and clean race. I’ve passed one rider halfway through the race, but it was a bit of a lonely ride afterwards. Moments like these are always tricky as it’s very easy to lose concentration, make a mistake and crash. Congrats to Remy with whom I trained in Spain before coming to Portugal. I can’t wait to race again in Valencia next weekend”.
