Biesiekirski ups the pace again at the Teruel GP

24/10/2020

Piotr Biesiekirski improved his best lap time from last weekend by almost a second, qualifying in the final, 30thposition for the Sunday’s Teruel Grand Prix, his only fifth race in the Moto2 World Championship.

During the qualifying the 19-year-old went quicker by almost seven tenths of a second comparing to this morning’s third practice session and almost a full second faster than his best time from the previous weekend at the Motorland Aragon circuit.

Biesiekirski finished the day with a time of 1:54.398, 3.1s from pole position and just half a second from the penultimate rider. Having shown consistent pace throughout the day, the youngest rider on the grid is hoping to keep up with his rivals during tomorrow’s race.

My goal for the qualifying was to go under 1:54.5 and I did it so I’m pleased with the session – says Piotr Biesiekirski. – I was also able to go almost a second faster than during the qualifying last weekend and improved by six tenths since this morning so it’s been a good day. I’m feeling well on the bike and think I can still improve further quite a bit during the race so that’s my goal for tomorrow. Looking at our today’s pace I think that the rider in front is within reach so I hope to stick with him during the race”.
