Biesiekirski starts the Catalan Grand Prix

03/06/2022

Piotr Biesiekirski finished the Friday’s two practice sessions ahead of the Catalan Grand Prix, his eleventh Moto2 World Championship start, in 31st position.

The only Pole on the grid ended the opening session 3.2 of a second from the leader, before reducing the gap to 2.6 sec. during the second practice in the afternoon, completing a total of 37 laps around the demanding Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya during the course of the day.

The 20-year-old rider of the Pertamina Mandalika SAG Euvic Team is now looking forward to Saturday’s final practice and the qualifying session ahead of the Sunday’s race.

“We got a lot of work done today but I was hoping for a bit more result-wise – says Piotr Biesiekirski– In the morning we were focusing on fine tuning the setup of the bike as we haven’t tested here a couple of weeks ago, opposed to most of the grid. I felt good on the bike in the afternoon but wasn’t able to put together a fast enough lap. However, I was able to close the gap to the front by over half a second, which shows that we’re making steady progress. I’m looking forward to tomorrow now”.
