Biesiekirski seventh in spectacular European Moto2 finale

05/11/2023

22-year-old Piotr Biesiekirski ended the 2023 European Moto2 Championship in spectacular style, taking seventh position at the famous MotoGP circuit in Valencia, Spain.

The group of 24 riders from 13 countries from all over the world had an extremely difficult task ahead of them at the recently repaved Circuit Ricardo Tormo after all action on Thusday and Friday was cancelled due to high winds.

After starting the race from eighth position, the only Pole on the grid quickly moved up to fifth position, but on the third lap he was pushed wide by his rival and dropped to ninth place.

In the second half of the race, the rider of the Fau55 Euvic Racing Team fought a fierce battle with two other racers, spectacularly making his way up to seventh place in the final corner.

“It was probably the fiercest and craziest race this season – says Piotr Biesiekirski. – Due to wind gusts exceeding 110 km/h, the organizers canceled all of the Thursday and Friday practice sessions, and these were extremely important because we were racing on a new asphalt. It meant that the race was a big unknown. After the start, I moved up to fifth place, but after a few laps one of my rivals ran me wide in the corner, which dropped me to ninth place. I had to chase and fight hard until the last corner, where I made it to seventh place. Both this weekend and throughout the season, we had the pace to fight for much more, but not everything went according to plan. Throughout the year, however, I could count on the support of both my team and partners, as well as all the amazing fans. Thank you!”
