Biesiekirski set for two European Moto2 races in Barcelona

06/06/2019

17-year old Piotr Biesiekirski is set to take part in two races of the European Moto2 Championship at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya this Sunday.

The only Pole and the youngest rider on the grid returns to the venue at which he scored his first podium finish in the Spanish Open 600 Championship almost exactly 12 months ago.

After a difficult start to his first full season in the European Moto2 Championship with the Euvic Stylobike Good Racing Team, Biesiekirski is looking for a strong weekend as he heads back to Barcelona following a two-day test at the Catalan MotoGP track.

The weekend will kick off with two qualifying sessions on Saturday followed by two 17-lap races on Sunday, with the first at noon and the second at 3 PM CET. A total of 36 riders from 14 different countries will line up on the grid with both races live on FIM CEV Repsol’s YouTube channel at http://www.youtube.com/user/CEVMotorcycleChamp

“I was really impressed with Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya last year and scored my first podium in the Spanish Open 600 Championship during my first visit there so I can’t wait to return to that pretty special place – says Piotr Biesiekirski. – Things haven’t been going according to the plan so far this season so I’m hoping we can turn them around with a solid weekend and two good races on Sunday. It won’t be easy, as the grid is very strong this year but we’ll give it our best together with my team to achieve our goals for this season. We had a two-day test here recently and even if I didn’t get to put in too many laps on my Kalex due to the tricky weather it was good to understand the track from onboard of a Moto2 bike.”
