Biesiekirski dominates in Aragon

17/04/2023

Piotr Biesiekirski won both races of the Spanish ESBK Superstock 1000 Championship at the Motorland Aragon circuit, taking the overall series lead after the first two rounds

The 21-year-old, who started the season with a pole position and a race win in Jerez two weeks ago, impressed in Aragon despite never riding his Yamaha R1 at Motorland before.

After taking pole on Saturday morning, Biesiekirski rode his Fau55 Euvic Racing R1 to a second consecutive victory in the afternoon before scoring a hat trick on Sunday.

The second race saw the Pole finishing seven seconds ahead of the next Superstock 1000 rider and battling for the overall podium with the top Superbike riders, finishing less than a second from a Top 3 Superbike result.

With three consecutive victories, the 21-year-old now takes the overall Superstock 1000 standings lead with round three scheduled at Valencia in mid-May, a week after Biesiekirski’s European Moto2 season kicks off in Estoril, Portugal.

“I’ve never ridden my Yamaha R1 on any of the ESBK circuits apart from Valencia, so I didn’t really know what to expect at Aragon, but it was a perfect weekend – says Piotr Biesiekirski. – It was very windy on Saturday, but we found a great setup together with my team and I was feeling confident on the bike, with a fast and consistent pace. On Sunday I finished just a second away from a Superbike podium, which was quite amazing on a Superstock 1000 bike. It was fantastic to hear the Polish national anthem on the top step of the podium. I’m looking forward to the next round in Valencia and the European Moto2 season opener in Estoril”.
