Piotr Biesiekirski made a successful return to the FIM Supersport World Championship, gaining places in both outings at the Misano World Circuit in Italy. The 23-year-old, and the only Polish rider on the grid, finished the races in 25th and 21st position.
After racing full-time in the championship last season, Biesiekirski returned to action in Misano as a stand-in for the injured rider of the French Flembbo team, following a lengthy recovery from a shoulder injury.
Riding the MV Agusta F3 800 RR for the first time, the Pole qualified 33rd in the Superpole session before making steady progress in both races—climbing to 25th on Saturday and 21st on Sunday.
Next up for Biesiekirski are two more rounds of the World Supersport Championship in July, at the iconic Donington Park circuit in the UK and the all-new Balaton Park in Hungary.
“It’s been a very productive weekend for us,” said Piotr Biesiekirski. “The most important thing is that we made big setup changes and clear progress with every session at Misano, even though I had to learn an entirely new bike while going up against world championship riders who are already well into their season.
The MV Agusta is still a brand-new experience for me, so it wasn’t easy, but I was able to improve my pace in both races compared to qualifying, gain positions, and close the gap to the front, which is very encouraging. My shoulder is also fully healed, so overall it was a really positive weekend.
Huge thanks to the entire Flembbo team for their great work throughout the weekend, and to all the Polish fans for their fantastic support, as always. I’m already looking forward to the July races, especially Donington Park, which I really enjoyed last year.”
