Special European Grand Prix for Biesiekirski

05/11/2020

19-year-old Piotr Biesiekirski heads to the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia for a special, home away from home European Grand Prix.

After winning the Polish Moto3 Championship in 2016 Biesiekirski turned his sights to Spain, where two years later he claimed third overall in the national Open 600 Championship and made his European Moto2 debut.

Midway through 2020 the Pole stepped up to the Moto2 World Championship, standing in for the Jesko Raffin in the NTS RW Racing GP Team and becoming the youngest rider on the grid.

This weekend’s European Grand Prix will be Biesiekirski’s sixth World Championship start in just eight weeks with the Sunday’s race set to start at 12:20 local time.

“Valencia is like a second home for me – says Piotr Biesiekirski. – That’s where I spend most of my time and train between the races. That’s why the European Grand Prix is like a home race for me and it will be a special weekend. Having said that I’m approaching this round exactly the same as any other, focusing on continuing my learning curve and not adding any extra pressure. While I might be spending a lot of time in the area I haven’t actually done any more laps around this track than around any other so the “home” race doesn’t give me any edge. Back in 2018 I scored the best result of my rookie European Moto2 season, a seventh position, and I like this track, but it won’t make things any easier this weekend”.
