Progress for Biesiekirski during Teruel GP

25/10/2020

19-year-old Piotr Biesiekirski finished the Teruel Grand Prix, his only fifth race in the Moto2 World Championship, in the final, 23rd position, showing impressively consistent pace and reducing his gap to the winner by five seconds.

Starting from the 30th position, the young Pole avoided mistakes and rode a trouble-free race. Racing for the NTS RW Racing GP Team, Biesiekirski reduced the gap to the winner by five seconds comparing to the Aragon Grand Prix at the same track, Motorland Aragon, a week ago. He also reduced the gap to the group in front by six seconds.

It was a bit of a bittersweet race to be honest – said Piotr Biesiekirski. – On the one hand I’m really happy with how consistent my pace was as most of my lap times were within three tents of my fastest. The race was five seconds faster than last Sunday and I was able to finish five seconds closer to the winner than last time out so we’ve made clear progress. On the other hand I was hoping to finish at least five seconds closer but lost most of that time on the first five laps which is something I must improve. I have the pace. I just need to find a bit more speed now. We’ve worked really well with the team and it was a very productive weekend so I’m hoping to continue that trend in Valencia”.
