Piotr Biesiekirski starts the Moto2 season in Jerez

31/05/2023

Piotr Biesiekirski is set to take part in the third round of the European Moto2 Championship in Jerez de la Frontera this weekend, having recovered from a pre-season knee injury.

The only Pole on the grid injured his right knee during pre-season testing in Estoril and missed the opening two rounds of the European Moto2 Championship.

This weekend the 21-year-old will return to action in Jerez de la Frontera where, just prior to his injury, he scored a victory in the first round of the Spanish Superstock 1000 Championship.

The sole Moto2 race will start on Sunday at 1 PM CET with two qualifying sessions on Saturday and practice sessions on Thursday and Friday.

“I’m very happy to be returning to action in Jerez after winning in the Spanish Championship there in April – says Piotr Biesiekirski, who races for the Fau55 Euvic Racing Team. – While I got the green lights from the doctors, I’m approaching the weekend with a cool head and consider Thursday as more of a warm-up rather that a start of the race event. Then we’ll see what happens later but after a bit of a break for now I just want to focus on rebuilding my feeling and enjoying myself on the bike. I can’t wait to meet my team and the fans again”.
