Piotr Biesiekirski looking for a strong Moto2 weekend in Barcelona

13/07/2023

21-year-old Piotr Biesiekirski is looking for strong results in this weekend’s two races of the European Moto2 Championship at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Sixth last time out in Portimao, the only Pole on the grid finished just four seconds from a podium result in Barcelona last year, a place where he had also taken part in three Moto2 World Championship Grand Prix races in the past.

The rider of the Fau55 Euvic Racing Team made a strong start to the 2023 season with five victories from seven starts in the Spanish Superstock 1000 Championship.

However, his European Moto2 campaign kicked off with a slight delay after a knee injury forced him to miss the opening two rounds in Estoril and Valencia.

After showing strong pace in Jerez de la Frontera and Portimao, the young Pole is looking for another solid weekend, this time at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, with two races planned for Sunday.

“Barcelona is one of my favorite circuits but that doesn’t give me any advantage as most of the riders can say the same thing – says Piotr Biesiekirski. – It’s a great track which has it all: long straights, fast corners and technical sections. All of this makes it one of the most popular stop on the calendar of both the European and the World Championship. Last year I was very close to a podium finish here, but the level of the European Moto2 Championship is even higher this year so it’s difficult to say what to expect. One thing is clear though: qualifying will again be super important so the battle will be tight both on Sunday and Saturday. I’ll also be keeping one eye on the grandstands with a lot of Polish fans always coming to Barcelona to support me, which I really appreciate”.
