Friday’s progress for Biesiekirski in Portugal

05/11/2021

Piotr Biesiekirski finished the Friday’s practice sessions ahead of the Algarve Grand Prix in 30thposition, improving his best lap time from the morning by a full second in the afternoon.

The only Pole on the World Championship grid started the weekend at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimao just 3.2s from the leader in the opening session before reducing the gap to just 2.6s in the afternoon, which moved him up from 31st to 30th position in the Moto2 class.

The 20-year-old racing for the Pertamina Mandalika SAG Euvic Team is now looking forward to tomorrow’s final practice and the qualifying session with the Sunday’s race starting at 3:30 PM CET.

“It was a good and productive Friday – says Piotr Biesiekirski. – The first session went smoothly but I felt that I can improve my pace quite a bit and that’s what we did in the afternoon. We were fine-tuning some setup details in the second session and went in a good direction. I was feeling quite good on the bike and was able to improve my times with every lap, staying close to the other riders timewise right from the start of the session. We have a good base for tomorrow so I can’t wait for the final practice and the qualifying”.
