Piotr Biesiekirski had shown good pace during Saturday’s third free practice session ahead of the Moto2 Aragon Grand Prix, before qualifying in 32nd position for tomorrow’s race.
The only Pole on the World Championship grid improved his yesterday’s best time by 0.8s during this morning’s third and final practice session, showing very good pace on used tyres.
The 19-year-old then went on to improve his time further on only his second lap of the qualifying session in the afternoon, before ending the day in 32nd position, just 0.025s from the penultimate rider.
Tomorrow’s Moto2 Aragon Grand Prix, the 13th round of the 2021 season and Biesiekirski’s ninth career World Championship start, kicks off at 12:20 PM CET.
“It was another good day in the World Championship – says Piotr Biesiekirski, riding for the Pertamina Mandalika SAG Euvic Team. – In the morning I improved my yesterday’ time by eight tenths of a second despite spending the whole session on very used tyres. I had a really good pace and feeling on them and was able to hold on to a group of some really fast riders which was a good experience. I was happy to improve my time on only my second lap in the qualifying and even if I wasn’t able to improve further later on, I’m still really pleased with my today’s pace and can’t wait for tomorrow’s race”.
