Biesiekirski to race in the Moto2 British Grand Prix

27/07/2022

Piotr Biesiekirski will take part in the next weekend’s British Grand Prix at the legendary Silverstone circuit, making his twelfth Moto2 World Championship appearance.

The only Pole on the grid will stand in for his recovering teammate, Gabriel Rodgrio, having already made one World Championship start this season, a wild card at the Catalan Grand Prix in Barcelona in June, which he finished in 23rd. His progress was highlighted by a smallest gap to the race winner in his 11 GP starts.

The 20-year-old will race for the Pertamina Mandalika SAG Euvic Team, a squad he’s competing for in the full season of the European Moto2 Championship.

Silverstone, the venue of the first ever Formula 1 Grand Prix back in 1950, will host an 18 lap Moto2 British Grand Prix race on the 7th of August, with lights going off at 3:30 PM local time.

“I think that every rider and driver in the world of motorsport dreams of racing at such a legendary circuit like Silverstone – says Piotr Biesiekirski. – It will be a new challenge for me, as I have never done a lap there and it’s one of the most difficult and demanding venues on the MotoGP calendar. I’m very grateful to the team for appreciating my hard work in the European Moto2 Championship and offering me this opportunity to race again in the World Championship. We’ve got a lot of work ahead of us. First, I’ll need to learn the track while also completing a work program for the weekend to find the best setup for the Sunday’s race”.

“We are very happy to have Piotr replacing Gabriel at the British GP – adds Team Principal, Eduardo Perales. – Piotr has been part of the SAG family for a few years now and we believe he deserves to get on our World Championship Kalex. From here we wish him the best of luck for the Grand Prix. “
