Biesiekirski to continue in the European Moto2 Championship for 2022

29/10/2021

Piotr Biesiekirski will continue to race in the European Moto2 Championship within the FIM CEV Repsol series next year together with the Spanish Pertamina Mandalika SAG Euvic Team. The young Pole will also be aiming for wild card entries for the selected rounds of the Moto2 World Championship.

Biesiekirski made his European Moto2 debut in 2018, at just 16 years of age becoming the youngest rider on the grid and the first Pole in the Championship.

The former Polish Moto3 Champion joined the Pertamina Mandalika SAG Euvic Team for 2021 and scored a pair of fifth place finishes, in Estoril and Barcelona, before making two wild cards starts in the Moto2 World Championship in the Catalan and Aragon Grand Prix.

Having just turned 20, Biesiekirski is set to take part in the final two rounds of the World Championship, in Portimao and Valencia, just before the final round of the European Moto2 Championship.

Next year will see the Pole returning to European Moto2 action onboard a brand-new Triumph-powered Kalex prototype. The same machine he’s set to ride in the final two rounds of the World Championship this November.

“I’m very happy to continue my journey with the European Moto2 Championship and the Pertamina Mandalika SAG Euvic Team – says Piotr Biesiekirski. – We were aiming for a bit more this year results-wise but things haven’t always gone as we had hoped. However, we have made great progress together and worked really well as a team, so I’m hoping that we’ll make another step in my racing career together next year. It will be an exciting challenge, also because of the new motorcycles, but for now I’m focusing on the two upcoming Grand Prix starts, which will be a great preparation for next year”.

“We are very happy to announce that we will have Piotr with us another year in the FIM CEV Repsol Championship – adds the Pertamina Mandalika SAG Euvic Team Principal, Eduardo Perales. – As always, he will have our full support and we hope we can celebrate many achievements together!”.
