Biesiekirski starts the weekend well in Aragon

16/10/2020

Piotr Biesiekirski finished both of the Friday’s practice sessions at the Motorland Aragon circuit in 29th position, making steady progress throughout the day.

The only Pole and the youngest rider on the grid ended the day just 3.5s from the leader after improving his best time by almost a second in the afternoon.

The 19-year-old riding for the NTS RW Racing GP Team suffered a small low-side towards the end of the second session with many riders crashing out due to low grid and high winds.

Biesiekirski will be back in action tomorrow for the third practice and the qualifying ahead of the Sunday’s Grand Prix of Aragon, his only fourth Moto2 World Championship start.

“In both sessions I needed a few laps to warm-up my shoulder, that is still a bit stiff after the crash last week, but eventually I felt more and more comfortable with every lap – says Piotr Biesiekirski. – I was able to improve my times quite a bit, especially after putting my preferred hard front tyre halfway into the second session. The bike is working really well and I just have to focus on improving my riding and adjusting it to the track and the bike. The team told me to be careful in the second corner due to the low temperatures and high winds which caught a lot of riders out today and I was, but looks like it wasn’t enough. I had a small crash, so apologies to the team. Anyway we’re feeling quite good and look forward to tomorrow”.
