Biesiekirski scores points in Valencia

24/05/2022

After a race long battle Piotr Biesiekirski finished the second round of the European Moto2 Championship in Valencia in eighth position, scoring his first points of the season.

The 20-year-old Pole lined up on the Sunday’s grid in seventh place for his “home”, 19-lap race, eventually finishing in a group battling for sixth spot.

The rider of the Pertamina Mandalika SAG Euvic Team scored eighth points and is now 17th in the European Moto2 Championship overall standings.

The third round of the season will take place on the second weekend of June at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya with two races planned for the Sunday.

“It was a very demanding and difficult race with quite a few crashes – says Piotr Biesieirski. – While it was my “home” round, the weekend itself hasn’t gone quite according to the plan. After making good progress in practice, I got stuck in traffic on my fast run in the qualifying. I knew I had the pace to battle at the front but starting from the third row it’s never easy. Still, I was able to finish in eighth position and battled for sixth, which was within reach. I was hoping for a bit more but it’s important to come away from Valencia with some solid points. I can’t wait for Barcelona now”.
