Biesiekirski ready for the European Moto2 season start in Estoril

06/05/2022

Piotr Biesiekirski will kick off his fourth European Moto2 Championship campaign this Sunday with two opening races at the Circuito do Estoril in Portugal.

The only Pole on the 36-strong grid is looking forward to getting the season underway after a solid pre-event test in Estoril, a circuit where he also performed strongly last year.

Riding for the Pertamina Mandalika SAG Euvic Team for a second successive season, Biesiekirski switches from the Honda-powered Kalex prototype to a Triumph-engined machinery, similar to the one he contested three Moto2 World Championship wild cards on last year.

2022 will see a total of 11 European Moto2 races over seven race weekends with the first two races taking place this Sunday, at 1PM and 4PM CET respectively with live coverage on FIM Junior GP series official YouTube channel https://youtu.be/cI-rbYTLTFs .

“I can’t wait for the first races of this year’s European Moto2 Championship – says the 20-year-old Piotr Biesiekirski. – I was very fast in Estoril last year and the testing went very well, so I’m looking forward to a good weekend. This season means a new challenge with the new Triumph engines but having raced this bike three times last year in the World Championship, I know more or less what to expect. The grid is very strong this year, so everything is possible. After the last two seasons I’m also really looking forward to seeing the fans trackside again which is always a great extra motivation”.
