Piotr Biesiekirski is looking for strong results in this weekend’s two races of the European Moto2 Championship at the “exciting” Autodromo International do Algarve in Portimao, Portugal.
The only Pole on the grid returns to Portugal having won both races of the Spanish Superstock 1000 Championship at another Portuguese venue, in Estoril, three weeks ago.
The 21-year-old kicked off his European Moto2 Championship campaign showing strong pace and scoring points during round 3 in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, having missed the opening two rounds due to a right knee injury.
This weekend the rider of the Fau55 Euvic Racing Team returns to action at the fast and challenging Autodromo International do Algarve near Portimao, where he took a strong fifth place in the European Championship last year and raced in the Moto2 World Championship with a wild card in 2021.
“It was great to win both races of the Spanish Superstock 1000 Championship in Estoril and stand at the top step of the podium with a Polish flag in my hands – says Piotr Biesiekirski. – It would be amazing to do the same in the European Moto2 Championship but for the moment I’m taking each day as it comes. Thursday’s practice went really well but still, you never know what to expect on Sunday in such a demanding Championship. Having said that, I feel that I did a good job preparing for this weekend over the last couple of weeks and I’m ready to fight. I really like this circuit. It’s fast, demanding, and exciting. It also has a great flow and give a lot of joy on a bike in general. I hope I can also give that joy to the Polish fans come Sunday”.
