Biesiekirski keeps improving in Barcelona

26/09/2020

The 19-year-old Pole qualified for tomorrow’s Moto2 Catalan Grand Prix in 30th position, improving his lap times further and closing in on his more experienced rivals.

Riding for the RW Racing GP Team, Biesiekirski improved his Friday’s best time by over a second, ending the day with a 1:45.679, just 2.3s from pole and the new lap record and only 0.3s from the penultimate rider.

Sunday’s 22-lap race will start at 1:20PM CET. It will be Biesiekirski’s only second race in the Moto2 World Championship.

“I am very happy with the progress we have made today – says Piotr Biesiekirski. – I’m starting to understand the bike better and keep improving myself. It has been working very well since the beginning of the weekend. I am very happy with the team, which does not put pressure on me and helps me with everything. I think we are ready for tomorrow. It will be a long race. The last sector of this track is quite physical, with two heavy braking points that you really feel over a race distance. I hope I can stay with a group and maybe join the battle in the first part of the race. If not, I hope to keep them in sight until the end of the race. Having said that, the first goal is still to keep improving and gain more experience in my only second World Championship start.”
