Piotr Biesiekirski is set to race at the legendary TT Assen Cricuit for the very first time in his career as the FIM World Supersport Championship round 3 takes him to the Netherlands this weekend.
Although the TT Assen Circuit is one of the oldest and most famous in the WorldSBK and MotoGP calendars, it’s a new venue for the only Pole in the World Supersport Championship.
The 4.5 km track starts with a slow, winding, and technical section, and ends with a sequence of some of the fastest and most spectacular turns in the world.
Learning the new track will not be made easier for the 22-year-old rider from the Ecosantagata Althea Racing team due to the unpredictable weather. Rain is forecast for Friday, while Saturday and Sunday are expected to be marked by low temperatures.
World Supersport riders will traditionally face two races this upcoming weekend, which will take place on Saturday and Sunday at 15:15 and will be preceded by a Superpole qualifying session on Friday.
“Every rider dreams of racing at Assen, which is one of the oldest and most famous circuits in the world,” says Piotr Biesiekirski, who rides a Ducati Panigale V2 with number 74. “I have been looking forward to this for a long time and am very excited about my first racing weekend at this historic place. However, we face a tough task as it will be wet on Friday, and dry but quite cold on Saturday and Sunday. Assen is not only known for its unique characteristics but also for its smooth and grippy asphalt, so I hope that will help a bit with learning the track. It will definitely be a very demanding weekend, during which I will focus on learning and catching the rhythm as quickly as possible, which is very important here.”
