Biesiekirski ready for “home” race in Valencia

19/05/2022

20-year-old Piotr Biesiekirski, the only Pole in the European Moto2 Championship, is looking forward to this weekend’s second round of the 2022 season and his “home away from home” race at the MotoGP venue in Valencia.

Riding for the Pertamina Mandalika SAG Euvic Team, Biesiekirski spends most of his time during the season near the Circuit Ricardo Tormo and considers it as his “home track”.

After showing great form during the opening round of the season in Estoril, the Pole had an unlucky crash at the finish of race one with his career first Moto2 podium in sights.

Back to full fitness, Biesiekirski heads to Valencia looking to show equally strong pace during the sole race of the weekend, which takes place on Sunday, at 1 PM CET.

“It was great to start the season with a strong pace and fighting at the front – says Piotr Biesiekirski. – I was a bit beaten up after Portugal, but having had two weeks to recover, I’m back to full fitness and can’t wait for my “home race away from home”. As we have seen in Estoril, the grid is very strong and the pace really fast this year, so it won’t be easy, but we’ll give it our all. I really like the Circiut Ricardo Tormo, especially after racing there in the Moto2 World Championship two years ago. It’s demanding and technical, but I really enjoy it. Valencia is also quite popular with the Polish fans so I can’t wait to meet them again trackside”.
