Biesiekirski makes progress in Barcelona

04/06/2022

Piotr Biesiekirski improved on his Friday’s time by over a second during Saturday’s final practice session ahead of the Moto2 World Championship Catalan Grand Prix before qualifying for the race in 31st position.

The 20-year-old from Poland improved his best time from yesterday already on his first flying lap on Saturday morning before going over a second quicker and closing in on the front runners to just two seconds.

While the qualifying in the afternoon didn’t quite go according to the plan for the rider of the Pertamina Mandalika SAG Euvic Team, he is looking forward to tomorrow’s race, his eleventh in the Moto2 World Championship.

“We did a good job analysing the data yesterday and already on my first lap this morning I went faster than on Friday – says Piotr Biesiekirski. – In the end I was able to get within two seconds to the front runners and felt good ahead of the qualifying. In the afternoon the conditions were a bit more difficult, mainly due to a strong wind, but I felt good and was looking for a bit more than the 31st position. In the end I was just two tenths from the rider in front of me and I have a consistent pace so I’m looking forward to a good race tomorrow”.
