More progress for Biesiekirski in the European GP

08/11/2020

Piotr Biesiekirski finished the Moto2 European Grand Prix in the final, 22nd position, with the smallest gap to the winner so far.

The only Pole and the youngest rider on the grid lost touch with his rivals after a small mistake on the opening lap but had shown his best ever pace in the first half of the race.

The 19-year-old rider of the NTS RW Racing GP Team eventually finished his sixth Grand Prix start just 59 seconds behind the winner, his smallest gap so far.

“It was probably the most difficult race of the year but we were still able to finish with the smallest gap to the winner – says Piotr Biesiekirski. – I’ve made a small mistake on the first lap, hit neutral mid-corner in turn 6 and lost touch with the group, but I was actually quite fast in the first part of the race. I’m really happy with that because I usually struggle with that. Unfortunately when the grip went off in the second half my pace dropped quite a bit but that’s to be expected as we never really got to work on used tyres in the changeable conditions in practice.”
