Good start to the European GP for Biesiekirski

06/11/2020

Piotr Biesiekirski ended the opening day of the Moto2 European Grand Prix in 27th position, showing good progress in changeable conditions at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia.

Friday started with a wet opening practice before riders returned to the track for the second session in the afternoon on slick tyres, but on a damp and partially still wet track.

The 19-year-old Pole, riding for the NTS RW Racing GP Team, finished both sessions in the 27th position, 3.4 of a second from the leader in the morning and only 2.6 off in the afternoon.

Moto2 riders will return to action tomorrow for the final practice and the qualifying with the Sunday’s race starting at 12:20 local time.

“Today was a good and interesting day with very different conditions in the two sessions – says Piotr Biesiekirski. – I felt good in the wet this morning and kept improving with every lap. I had some slides along the way but was able to control them and really enjoyed myself. The conditions in the afternoon were really difficult with a damp and drying track but again I felt good. The gap to the front wasn’t bad today considering the conditions and I know where I can still improve quite a bit so I’m really looking forward to tomorrow.”
