Biesiekirski returns to Aragon

11/07/2019

Piotr Biesiekirski is set take part in the fourth round of the European Moto2 Championship at Motorland Aragon, where he made his Euvic Stylobike Good Racing Team debut in the series 12 months ago.

The 17-year old heads to Aragon fresh from two points scoring finishes during the previous round in Barcelona and a successful two-day test at the Motorland Aragon circuit.

The Pole aims to challenge for a pair of Top 10 results despite still suffering from arm-pump in his right forearm, a common issue for motorcycle racers.

Last year Biesiekirski made his European Moto2 debut in Aragon finishing eleventh in both races before scoring his career best result of seventh at the final round in Valencia.

The youngest rider on the grid and only Pole in European Moto2 Championship returns to Aragon having finished a successful two-day test a week ago, covering over 600 kilometres and improving his last year’s qualifying time by half a second.

After two days of practice on Thursday and Friday the weekend will officially start with two Saturday qualifying sessions followed by two 16-lap races on Sunday with the first starting at 11 AM and the second at 2 PM. Both races can be watched live on FIM CEV Repsol’s official YouTube channel at: www.youtube.com/user/CEVMotorcycleChamp.

Straight from Aragon Biesiekirski will head to Barcelona to undergo an arm-pump surgery performed by the legendary doctor Xavier Mir. The Pole will then have over a month to return to full fitness with round five of the European Moto2 Championship scheduled at Jerez de la Frontera on the final weekend of September.

I’m returning to Aragon after a full year in Moto2 and feeling a lot more comfortable in this class– says Piotr Biesiekirski, who also won last year’s Spanish Open 600 Championship race at Motorland Aragon. –We had a good test here and I’d like to challenge for a pair of Top 10 results but the most important thing will be to quickly get up to a good pace and work well with the team. Last week I was half a second faster than my qualifying time from last year but the level in European Moto2 this year is even higher and the field is much closer so every tenth of a second will make a big difference of Saturday. Aragon is a difficult track for me but I really like it. Having said that, I’ve been struggling with arm-pump for the last few weeks. Only after this weekend the break before the next round will be long enough for me to have a surgery. Luckily already during the tests we could see that with more left-hand corners this track is much easier on my right forearm than Barcelona so I’m looking forward to a good weekend.”
