Biesiekirski looking strong in Jerez

28/08/2020

Piotr Biesiekirski will start this weekend’s two European Moto2 Championship races in Jerez from seventh on the grid looking for a pair of Top 5 finishes.

Seventh overall after the first four races in Portugal, Biesiekirski started the weekend on one of his favourite tracks in a strong fashion, by finishing fourth in the Thursday’s practice.

Riding for the Euvic Stylobike Good Racing Team, the 18-year-old Pole was close to a Top 9 finish at Jerez two years ago in his rookie season, before finishing eleventh in 2019.

“I really enjoyed the summer break as I was able to test a World Championship-spec Moto2 bike in Barcelona – says Piotr Biesiekirski, who was due to make his Grand Prix debut with a wild card at the June’s Catalan GP. – Jerez is one of my favourite tracks so I’m looking for a good result. After a strong Thursday I was hoping for a bit more in the qualifying but got slowed down on my fastest lap. Anyway, we have a good pace and I’m looking for a good start. If I’m able to get into the front group in the beginning I hope to battle at least for a Top 5 and maybe even a podium finish.”
