Biesiekirski looking forward to Moto2 wild card

03/06/2021

Poland’s Piotr Biesiekirski is set to take part in his eighth ever Moto2 World Championship event with a wild card entry for this weekend’s Catalan Grand Prix.

The 19-year-old will ride a Kalex for the Pertamina Mandalika SAG Euvic Team for which he’s also racing in the European Moto2 Championship, where he started the season strong with a fifth position in the season opening race in Estoril.

Last year the former Polish Moto3 Champion competed in seven Grand Prix races as the youngest rider on the grid, taking his best result, a 20th place, in the Catalan Grand Prix at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

“I can’t wait to return to the Grand Prix grid and race in the Catalan Grand Prix – says Piotr Biesiekirski– Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is one of my favorite tracks. We had a good, two-day test here a few weeks ago. We focused a lot on the race pace on used tyres and had a really good rhythm. Next weekend we’ll be racing in Barcelona in the European Moto2 Championship where I’ll be aiming to battle for podium positions, but this weekend I’m focusing on showing good progress comparing to last year. I’d like to be way under two seconds per lap from the leaders in practice and qualifying, have a good battle in the race and finish as close to the front as possible. I’m also really happy to be racing with fans on the grandstands again”.
